A very unique, vintage Roads Unlimited Racing Association (RURA) NOR CAL 100 Off Road Racing series poster from the early days of Off-Road Racing in Northern California. The large heavy paper poster measures 17"W X 24"H and is 1976 vintage. It has been in dark storage since new and is in pretty
good condition, with some slight wrinkles fading on the edges (See photo), Colors are bright red and black graphics on a white background. I will ship carefully in a reinforced cardboard tube via USPS. Please, notify the post office if there is any damage. Packing and shipping is FREE.
Roads Unlimited Racing association put on several NOR CAL 100 off-road racing events between 1968 - 1976. Most were at Carnegie Cycle Park Livermore CA and one was a February 1973 event at Champion Speedway in Brisbane CA. Interestingly, Mickey Thompson came to the'73 event to observe. He toured the course with my husband and told us about his plans for the first short course event at Riverside raceway. At the same time, he established the
Short Course Off Road Enthusiasts organization,
SCORE,
as a promotional group and sanctioning body. This body would later morph into SCORE-International (Southern California Off-Road Enterprises).
Roads Unlimited Racing Association was started in 1968 by my husband and several other off road enthusiasts. The idea was to develop and promote off road racing in Northern California. Many events were held over the next 9 years at locations such as Baylands (Fremont raceway) Fremont CA, Champion Speedway, Brisbane CA; Vallejo Speedway Vallejo, CA; Petaluma Speedway, Petaluma CA; Carnegie Cycle Park, Livermore, CA; San Jose Fairgrounds, San Jose CA and others. THe RURA organization was putting on the Trans Terra and NOR CAL 100  series of short course off road races 3 years before Mickey Thompson started SCORE, Riverside and the MTEG Series.
The event allowed spectators to see action of the best off road racers from northern and Southern California in several classes of Buggy's, 4 wheel drives and
foreign
sedans.
Racing consisted of Practice on Saturday and 2 -100 mile races on Sunday.
