1966 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance poster reproduction. Promoting the 16th annual event, July 23, 1966.
The 1966 posters were the first to feature original artwork, rather than a photograph. Cartoonist Eldon Dedini, of Esquire, New Yorker, and Playboy note, created the artwork for this poster. He created two rough sketches, and event organizers had such difficulty choosing between the two that they decided to print both. This version is done in the style of Talouse-Lautrec, and features a Rolls-Royce surrounded by notable characters from Lautrec's cafe scenes. In the foreground, Dedini placed Talouse-Lautrec strolling across the scene.
Printed using high-quality reproduction techniques for the Robert Devlin book, Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance: The Art of the Poster, in 2003. Originals of this piece are almost impossible to come by, at any price.
